Chung Dae-kun, chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF), was elected as head of a new combined cooperative federation for farmers on Tuesday.
NACF is due to merge with two other farmers' organizations, the National Livestock Cooperative Federation and the Ginseng Cooperative Federation, by July this year.
The chairman-elect will take the post until June 30 of 2004 from July 1, 2000. During the four-year term, Chairman Chung is required to reform the new cooperative to become more competitive and adaptive to the fast-changing financial market.
