Cheil Jedang plans to invest a total of 10 billion won in 20

Cheil Jedang said yesterday it has invested 10 million won in Ginseng Science Co., a venture firm set up by professors of Seoul National University's Pharmaceutical College. With the investment, Cheil Jedang secured a 19.9 percent stake in the venture firm and the right to sell and distribute its products. Cheil Jedang plans to invest a total of 10 billion won in 20 promising bioengineering venture companies. Ginseng Science was set up by two SNU professors last December. It developed a new type of ginseng with high medicinal efficacy by processing ordinary ginseng at 120-180 degrees centigrade. Korea Herald 2001.02.08
